Anansi Receives the Power of Storytelling

This piece is a mix of self portraiture and a return to my mythology art series.  This time the myth in question is the finale of the myth of Anansi the Spider.  After completing four tasks set out before him by the sky king, Anansi is rewarded with the power of storytelling; and with the power of stories came the powers of illusion and the transformative power of language.  My biggest challenge was the manner in which the figure interacts with the light sources (the light that engulfs Anansi that is emitted by the sky king, and the light of the various Ashanti symbols that I used to represent all the various stories).  All in all, I think I did a good job.
